Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin
By Rants&Raves on Feb 26, 2008 in Automotive
A while back there were rumors of Ford building an SVT Sport Trac called the “Adrenalin” in 2007. Well unfortunately it never came to be…on the flip side (even better) it’s not an SVT only truck, but a package that your run-of-the-mill Ford dealer can add to your Sport Trac when you order one (or if you’re lucky they may have one or two sitting on the lot).
Some of the rumors about the 2007 SVT Adrenalin have proven untrue…it offers a 3-valve 292hp V8 paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and an optional AWD drivetrain. The original concept vehicle had rumor of 390hp and 390ft-lbs of torque…unfortunately this just isn’t gonna happen.
Some of the styling cues have changed, however. There’s no square exhaust tips coming through the molded bumper. There aren’t hideous red inserts in the black leather seats – and the Sport Trac retains the bench in the back (as opposed to the 4 racing seats found in the original concept). The dash and instrument cluster weren’t very far off as far as what the actual production vehicle will include (granted they weren’t that far off from the base-model dash and instrument cluster…minus a few color changes). The concept vehicle showed no signs of a tailgate door handle or of a tonneau cover (which was a bit mind boggling) but fortunately both have made it into the production vehicle. The concept included 21″ 5 spoke (or 5/10 spoke as I refer to them) wheels with drilled rotors and red calipers. None of these made it to the production vehicle…but a good looking set of 20″ polished aluminum wheels similar to those on the concept did make it.
