No Credit Card Minimum Charge
By Rants&Raves on Sep 8, 2009 in General
I’ve been told time and time again by local businesses that there’s a minimum amount that I have to spend in order for them to accept my credit card. Usually it’s a donut shop or convenience store that has a lot of transactions that are in small amounts (ie 1 pack of cigarettes or a couple of sprinkle-donuts). There’s actually no rules that say you have to purchase a certain amount and in fact it’s against the store’s Merchant Agreement to demand a minimum purchase.
Nontoxicreviews.com has kindly created some easily printable PDF’s that are credit-card sized and you can whip these badboys out next time someone claims that you have to purchase a minimum amount. Thanks, Andy.

you spend less than $5 at a bar, muscly ahms? What’re you ordering? 7-up?

Showing that bad boy still won’t do anything. They can still reject the sale. What you can do is report the store to the credit card company, in the meantime, you’re just gonna have to buy more things, or pay with cash.
