Protech Runt 2

Protech Runt 2

So since Camp wrote about his love of knives a while back, I figured I’d post about one of my favorite knives myself. It’s called the Runt 2 and it’s made by a company called Protech. They’ve got some pretty sweet automatic knives, but I’d have to say that the Runt 2 and it’s immediate family is probably the most practical of them all.

The things I like most about this knife is it’s sharp blade, solid weight, and tiny form. The spring action in this knife is unbelivable. If you’re not holding on to it tight enough it’ll flip open and throw itself right out of your hand. The button-action makes for easy one handed opening and closing of the knife insanely easy. A perfect everyday knife to keep clipped on the inside of your pocket or even stuck down in that little coin pocket on jeans that has literally absolutely no other use.

I was given this knife as a gift, and before owning one probably wouldn’t have spent the average $95 I’ve seen it go for on it. Having owned one now for quite a while now I can say that if you decide to get one of these little puppies you won’t be disappointed at all. If you’re looking for a really big knife then you might want to check out the Protech Ciabatta since it’s a big brother to the Runt, or just stick with your $9 gas station cheapies that were designed to last a week and cut through nothing thicker than tissue paper.
