Rate of Increase in Information

Ok, this is what we went over in Sociology and I thought it was fairly interesting for once. The rate of increase in information doubles with each decade…if that doesn’t make sense, think of it in terms like this….
In 1950 there were 100 units of information out there for people to soak up. Everything from Jesus up. From 0 to 1950, there were 100 “units” of information out there. I’m just making up 100 for example purposes and comparision purposes. In 1960 there were already 200 “units.” that would put 800 units in 1980, 1600 in 1990, and 3200 “units” in the year 2000. By the year 2010 there will be over 6400 “units” of information available for people to absorb and gather…kinda scary isn’t it. Off to class.
